The Mbale Sports CentreThanks to a generous grant from the employees of Accenture - global leaders in management consultancy, TackleAfrica have teamed up with local partners AIDS Care Education and Training (ACET) on a new and innovative project to help stop the spread of HIV/AIDS among young people in Uganda. This project sees TackleAfrica building its first ever Sport and HIV Education Centre in Uganda. The Centre, which is also the first of its kind for ACET, will be used to reach young people with vital information about HIV prevention using the massive appeal of sport, in particular football. The Accenture Grant also provides funding to ensure the Centre will be fully resourced for the first years of operation. David Kabiswa, Director of ACET, stated: "This project is an excellent example of how business and community can come together and make a highly impactful and sustained difference to a very large problem. We look forward to a long and productive relationship with TackleAfrica." The centre is due to open in .... and will enable ACET and TackleAfrica to carry out a wider range of HIV awareness activities in the Mbale region of eastern Uganda. |
